      This is one of the range treks in Sahyadri which connects two holy places of Hatkeshwar and Lenyadri. There are no forts en route this trek but we do come across some naturally formed caves, needle holes and man-made caves at Lenyadri. At the end of rainy season many flowers do bloom in this region.

It takes about 3 hours from Godre which is the base village to reach Hatkeshwar and further 2 hours to see in and around Hatkeshwar area. Hatkeshwar to Lenyadri is about 4 hours trail. Thus it takes about 8 to 9 hours to complete the trail from Hatkeshwar to Lenyadri.

Fascinating Spots :

      1) Hatkeshwar Temple:- This is a simple places with a Shiv Linga under a small roof, a stream adjoining it and many idols of Nandi around. The water in this stream is fit for consumption. Even though this place isn’t well known to people it has its mention in some ancient texts and manuscripts. From this spot one can see Harishchandragad and Sindola forts, Pimpalgaon Dam to the north. To the west there are Hadsar, Nimgiri-hanumantgad forts and Manikdoh dam. To the south there are Shivneri, Narayangad forts.



2) Naturally formed cave:- There are 2 such caves to the west of the temple premise. To reach the cave one has to descend a bit. In one of these caves there is a space which can accommodate only up to 5 to7 people. There is an idol of Lord Ganesh inside which seems to be recently placed here. The second cave is very narrow and goes up to 15 to 20 meters inside.




3) Naturally formed bridge or Needle Hole:- This miracle is on a short distance from the temple. It is about 4200 ft above sea level. The approach path to this bridge is very narrow and needs a rope to descend here. Only 5 to 7 people can be accommodated on this bridge.


4) Lenyadri:- This place hosts the holy shrine of Lord Ganesha and 30 man-made caves. It is understood that cave nos 6 and 14 are for last rites rituals while the others are for dwellings for monks. There are many sources of water here. There are scriptures near two of the caves. It takes around 3 hours to visit the entire area.
Ways To Reach :
      1) Via Godre:- Reach Junnar junction via on Mumbai – Kalyan – Malshej route. On Junnar road there is a diversion for Godre village about 10 kms from here. Kalyan to Gondre is about 120 kms distance.


2) Via Kolwadi:- Next to Junnar junction near Pimpalgaon Dam on the Mumbai – Kalyan – Malshej route (114 kms from Kalyan) there is a path from Kolewadi village which goes to Hatkeshwar. But this path has a steep descend and is tiresome.

By both the paths Hatkeshwar to Lenyadri is about 25 kms distance.

      Available in Lenyadri. For Hatkeshwar it is advised to carry water from Godre village as next available source is in the stream on top.
