      According to a local folklore, Arjun, the great warrior of Mahabharat kidnapped Subhadra from this very place and thus it is named after him as Arjungad. It is being said that Chimaji Appa later built a fort here. It was under the control of the Portuguese for some time. Right in the middle of the fort there is a temple of Goddess Mahalaxmi and there are steps built for its access. This place is frequently visited by people.
Fascinating Spots :
      The steps lead us to the fort in 10 minutes by circumventing a bastion. The entrance of the door is East facing. The doorway, fortified wall and bastions are still in a good condition and there are porches built for the gatekeepers. Besides the temple there is a large water tank. There are 6 bastions in the fortification wall. There is Kolak river visible to the south. As the spread of the fort is small it takes around 10 minutes for an entire trail.
Ways To Reach :
      Reach Bagwada station on the Vapi – Surat railway route by a passenger train. Arjungad is 2 kms from the station and can be reached by an autorickshaw till the base. By road, the fort is 6 kms from Vapi on the Mumbai – Ahmedabad highway.
