During trek to Mahimatgad near Sangmeshwar, we encounter with this Plant .It cause swelling & etching for more than 1 hr. The Details of the plant to alert other trekers.

The plant is Girardinia zeylanica

It is a plant from family Urticaceae
It is called as "Motha Khajra"
"मोठा खाजरा" in Marathi

it is a known irritant, all the parts of plant are covered with Stinging hair
and they cause acute problem if come in contact with skin.

The stem of the plant yields good quality fiber and is used by tribels for making ropes and thick coarse cloth.

In most of the cases of such itching your own saliva is a good medicine, secondly if the plant known as "Takla" {(Cassia tora) which is used as leafy vegetable} is available near by, then crush some leaves of it on the itching part.
