An audio-visual looking at exploring mountains, war and politics in the Siachen glacier. It covers not only the mountains but also the war, politics, human costs and effects on many aspects of Indian life. These are troubled areas where India, Pakistan and China are engaged in hostilities for decades. It shows Indian Army in action, role of soldiers and sacrifices they make for the country. Proposal for a “Siachen Peace Park” is presented to stop this conflict.
The presentation is based on Harish Kapadia’s nine visits to the area from 1980 onwards

एव्हरेस्टचं नवं चॅलेंज

विविध कारणांमुळे जगभरातील बहुतांशी गिर्यारोहक म्हणत आहेत की, साऊथकोलमार्गे एव्हरेस्टवर चढाईचा मार्ग व्यावसायिक मोहिमांसाठी सोडून द्यावा, कारण त्यावर हजारो लोकांचा उदरनिर्वाह अवलंबून आहे. आता गरज आहे ती फक्त साऊथकोलवरून एव्हरेस्ट शिखर सर करण्यास जाणाऱ्या गर्दीच्या संख्येवर मर्यादा घालण्याची. अन्यथा हिमवादळ व इतर कारणाने एके दिवशी फार मोठय़ा प्रमाणात गिर्यारोहकाांचा अपघात होण्याची शक्यता आहे. अर्थात एक सत्य लक्षात घ्यायला हवं ते म्हणजे, एव्हरेस्ट हे काही गिर्यारोहणातील अंतिम व एकमेव साध्य नाही.
