Khairai

Khairai fort is situated near Peth tehsil in Nasik district of Maharashtra.


Khairai fort is 65 kms from Nashik on the Nashik-Harsul-Thanapada-Khairaipali route near the Maharashtra – Gujarat border. The fortification wall is still intact in many places. The route to the fort starts from Khairai village by keeping the bastions in front. In about 45 minutes we reach a small hill from where we can ascend through the broken ridge. Another route for access is by keeping the bastion and the fort summit to our right and circumvent tot hill. This takes us to the west side of the fort and is a relatively easy path. There are couple of water tanks and two canons on the fort near the ruins of a temple.
