There are various tanks called Moti take, Shevalya take, Hatyara take, Khekdya take inside the fort. The village previously ruled by a King called Gawali. You can also see a stable of that time. The ruler had various mansabdars administering his kingdom. One of those mansabdars governed this region afterwards.
How to Reach
Via Nashik one has to go to Satana. There are buses to Tilawan from Satana. From Tilwan it takes 20 minutes to reach Wadi Chaulher. It’s the base village. There is a way descending from the fort by which we can reach the fort.
Points of Interest
Near the entry point to the fort, we can see a range of Galleries. One has to pass through 3 gateways to enter. These gateways are excellent illustrations of architecture. As we enter we can see the citadel in front and to the left there is machi. On the machi there is a large cistern for water storage and at the far end are relics of the fortification. After observing the machi we can move to the citadel. There are two approaches to the citadel. By taking the right it takes 10 minutes to reach. On the way there are various tanks carved inside the rocks, of those the ‘moti take’ has portable water. The citadel also has 4 such tanks and remnants of some manor. We can also have fascinating view of the Satmal and Selbari-Dolbari range. If one wishes to take left approach from machi to the citadel there are idols of Chaurangnath and Hanuman. Those are sheltered by metal sheets by villagers. Two hours are enough to explore the fort.
