Introduction

Bhairavnath Mandir is an ancient Hemadpanthi temple located at Kikali village, about 25 km from Wai in Satara district. The temple is situated at the base of Chandan–Vandan forts.

History

Local villagers believe that the temple was constructed by the Pandavas in a single night. The temple has suffered damage over time and renovation work is currently in progress.

Architecture

The temple follows Hemadpanthi architectural style. The mandap contains several carved pillars. Inside the temple, there are three Shiva pinds—one in the sanctum and one each on the left and right.

How to Reach

Kikali village is around 20 km from Bhuinj on the Pune–Satara road. Buses are available from Wai and Satara. From Belmachi village, routes lead towards Chandan–Vandan saddle.

Notes

The temple complex includes dipmalas, a Datta shrine, a partially constructed Shiva temple, and a modern Bhairavnath temple near the old structure.
