Introduction

Kelve beach in western suburbs is famous. Danda fort is 9 km away from Kelve station and 1 km away from Kelve village, near Danda creek. The fort was built by Portuguese to guard this creek.

How to Reach

We have to reach the main cross road in Kelve village, 8 km away from Kelve station on western railway. One road leads to Danda village via Danda creek. The customs fort and Bhavangad are nearby.

Points of Interest

The few remnants of this fort are now scattered throughout the village. Once we cross the Danda creek and reach the village, the fort remnants can be seen on the left side. We can identify the entrance and the vestibule near it. There is a square shaped well nearby. Unfortunately this place is now left to the mercy of people who have built a common toilet nearby.

Danda-Futka (broken) bastion

This was built to protect the fort. The remnants can be found near the bridge.
