Palashi Fort
Fascinating Spots :

Palashi fort has 16 bastions and 4 doors of which 2 doors are large and 2 small. The fort can be entered from the doors on the north and east side. As the fort premise now houses local population there are proper paved roads in it. The north doorway and the bastions have been re-painted by the villagers which has lost its original charm. There are scriptures carved on both sides of the door. There is temple of Lord Shiva built in stone in the fort premises. a sculpture of Lord Hanuman has been carved on the backside of the temple. A large tortoise can be seen in front of the main temple hall way and a Veerghal opposite the temple. As we move ahead from the temple, there is a cannon ball in the alley to the right and two ancient lamp posts built in stone. Further we come across the mansion of Palshikar family. The current descendants of the Palshikars, Mr. Ramrao Krishnarao Palshikar is the owner of this mansion. There are beautiful carvings on the mansion doors and arches. After entering this door we come in an alley, crossing which there is another door of the mansion. Entering this we step in the central part of the mansion. There are currently two tenants living here. The mansion was originally two storied but now only floor remains. Beautiful carvings on the wooden pillars can be seen here. There is an underground room in the mansion but it is kept locked. There is a worshipping area to the right. The pillar on the first floor has been carved in the shape of a palm tree. As the second floor of the mansion is in ruins it has been covered by a roof. Overall the mansion has been poorly maintained. As we move out we can see the ruins of another mansion. Only two walls of this are left but the corners are worth seeing. A path in between these two mansions goes to the temple of a Goddess who has hooded King Cobra on her head, an Elephant to her feet, a mace and a wheel in her hands. Heading back to the Lord Shiva temple, keep the temple facing your back and move ahead. In 5 minutes you will reach the east door through a small unpaved road. There are two strong bastions on the either side of the door. The bank of the river Palashi is outside this door at a distance.

After crossing the door and the river bank we come across Lord Vitthal temple and adjacent ot it there is a small water tank on the river side. The temple is built inside the fortified wall and its entrance door is huge. This templr is built in Naagar architectural style. There is Lord Shiva temple across the river bank.
It takes about one hour to visit the fort and temple.
